Reflection 1: Skirting the Issue—Are We Ready for Men Wearing Skirts?
For decades, fashion experts have exclaimed that "men's skirts are officially mainstream." While that hasn't exactly come to fruition just yet, in the 2020s, male skirts may finally be having their moment. From runways to red carpets, from professional athletes to pop stars, men in skirts are more visible today than ever. Still, male skirts have yet to become a mainstay of the average American man's wardrobe. Why? What would it take to see male skirts in, say, the halls of Congress, or the boardrooms of Fortune 500 companies? If you are female, how do you feel about men wearing skirts? Likewise, if you are male, can you see yourself embracing this trend? Finally, why is the idea male skirts so upsetting for some people?
